SSCP Subject Matter Expert
During the (ISC)² SSCP Standard Setting Workshop, on 8-9 March 2021 and 23-25 October 2023, I was able to share my knowledge and experience with psychometricians from Pearson VUE and (ISC)² to refine the requirements for Minimally Competent Candidates to pass the SSCP exam. I actively participated in this program by having progressive conversations with other experts from different parts of the world.
Mentoring IEEE Volunteers
I served as a Mentor for IEEE Volunteer Leadership Training Program in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 for IEEE Member and Geographic Activities. It is always a great place to share my volunteering experience with raising IEEE volunteers. During the program. Senior IEEE officials conduct sessions, for participants, which I also as a mentor normally attend to absorb their thoughts which helps me to provide the right direction to my mentees.
Pragmatic Approach to Cybersecurity | RUSL Information Security Workshop
While explaining Data Security, Identity & Access Management and Network Security challenges that are faced by organizations nowadays, I was also able to discuss solutions that are used by the organizations to overcome these challenges, with 03rd-year students of the Management Faculty of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. An interactive quiz that I created, with 10 questions divided into 04 rounds, helped me to get active participation during this information security workshop.
Cybersecurity Principles | UpCourse Program | Edvicon
As a speaker in the UpCourse Program offered by Edvicon International, I shared my knowledge across various cybersecurity domains with the Edvicon Student Members. I was able to discuss the concepts of Access Controls, Cybersecurity Operations, Risk Management, Incident Handling, Cryptography, Network Security, and Application Security. I also shared a few quotes from information security industry leaders which allow the students to understand the importance of cybersecurity in a more narrative way.
"Teach IT for Sri Lanka": Online Tutoring for OUSL BSE Students
The Bachelor of Software Engineering (BSE) degree offered by The Open University of Sri Lanka in collaboration with SLASSCOM is the first online software engineering degree in the country. I am currently supporting this program as an online tutor for the course "EEX3373 Communication and Computer Technology" by following the guidelines provided by the Center for IT Educational Services while applying my experience and knowledge to explain the course content clearly to the students.
Symphonizing Security Solutions for Cloud-native Software Products
I did contribute to a knowledge-sharing webinar organized by Vetstoria. During the webinar, I shared my experience on how I utilized different security processes and technologies, to protect Vetstoria's cloud workloads. I was also able to discuss how these security processes and technologies can help organizations to align with OWASP SAMM, SOC 2, and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Securing a Software Startup
I was invited to conduct a knowledge-sharing session on "Securing a Software Startup" for the undergraduates of the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. I was able to share cybersecurity insights related to the startup ecosystem while sharing my own experience in the industry.
Designing a Conference Website
I voluntarily contributed to designing and managing the website of the IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference 2018. The conference was full of like-minded individuals from Asia-Pacific and an opportunity to meet globally well-recognized researchers as well. The conference is happening annually and 2018 was the year that Sri Lanka first became the hosting nation.
